Hard Yakka is an Australian clothing company founded by David K. Laidlaw as a small clothing company in his parents’ house in Brunswick Victoria in 1935. After consulting with Jim Cushen, an independent advertising agent, David named the company Yakka, a word derived from the Aboriginal word for “work”. Hard Yakka, meaning Hard Work, was born and is now one of the largest suppliers of work wear in the southern hemisphere, providing a large range of hardwearing quality workwear products that Stitchem is proud to stock. The Hard Yakka workwear range includes pants, shorts, shirts, boots, safety gloves and accessories.
KingGee is an Australian workwear brand established in Sydney by Mr Robert Adcock in 1926 and has been part of Australian history for over 90 years. The name is said to have originated from the reigning monarch at the time, King George V, and was an expression that meant ‘tops’ or ‘the best’. The brand initially produced overalls, but has since grown its products to supply a large range of work wear, footwear and accessories. KingGee supplied the uniforms for the defense services during World War Two. You can count on Stitchem for all your KingGee workwear needs.
Blundstone Footwear is an Australian footwear brand, based in Hobart, Tasmania. The company originated from companies set up by several free settlers who emigrated from England to Tasmania in 1870. The company’s best-known product is its line of laceless, elastic-sided, ankle-length boots. They are rugged, with their own natural beauty and distinctive look and feel. Built tougher than they need to be, they reflect the place they’re from. There is no place on Earth like Tasmania and no boots on Earth like the ones that were born there. The boots are colloquially known as “Blunnies” in Australia.
Embodying a trusted and reliable Australian working aesthetic, Buckaroo Leatherworks is much more than a tool belt manufacturer. From humble beginnings in South Africa, in the seventies, a love of leatherwork quickly morphed into a fully-fledged family business — relocating to Australia, with the land down under laying deep roots at the heart of our Buckaroo brand.
Buckaroo manufacture premium quality tool belts designed to suit professional tradespeople whilst on the job. They also produce a range of components to add to these belts, from bags to tool holders (frogs) to belts. Stitchem is a stockist of Buckaroo products from tool frogs (holder), belts and bags.
